SELECTED PRODUCTION WORK

sundad
way station one
Tracked in upstate NY at RAW Recording, at Imaginary Road in Vermont, and here at S&S. I tracked most of the album, and produced, mixed, and mastered. I helped shape the songs during recording, enlisted some excellent friends to feature on the album, and I played keys (Rhodes and piano, and synth) on much of the album. I also played bass on a few songs!

kristen miller
parisian sketches
Cello by Kristen and some keyboards and loops by me. Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered here at S&S. Kristen is always well-prepared and my role is in helping shape layers and being the extra ears on song structures and development.

Oster, downes, & me
seven conversation
We gathered at my studio with no preconceptions about what we were going to play. I had some ambient loops prepared, and we picked a few to give us landscapes to play into and keys to work in... and then we just explored and responded to each other in the moment. Jeff played flugelhorn, Vin played electric guitar, and I played keys and bass. We recorded several hours of improvs, and then I picked the sweet spots and edited things into a slightly tighter form, and mixed and mastered. This was an Echoes CD of the Month.

will, Oster, & Me
Brothers
Initially this was planned as an Oster/Will album, but once we began recording it they asked me to play all the other instruments and arrange the album, so it became a trio project. Jeff and I wrote six songs at my studio and took those to Vermont for Will to play on, and Will wrote two songs that Jeff and I added our parts to. We recorded Will at Imaginary Road, and all the other parts at my Universal Noise Storage studio in Newburyport, MA. I tracked, arranged, mixed, mastered, and played bass, piano, keys, and some electric guitar and percussion. The album was nominated for the "Best New Age" Grammy Award.
